Langtang Trek in Nepal takes you on a delightful expedition inside one of the discreet Himalayas areas of Nepal which cater for all kinds of trekkers. The Langtang Trek in Nepal shares borders with Tibet in the north; hence, the region is highly influenced by the lifestyle, culture, and tradition of its northern counterpart. It is home to Langtang National Park and a popular pilgrimage site of Gosainkunda. Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Langtang Ri (7205m), and Yala Peak (5,50m) are a few of the mountains located entirely inside the National Park and are also available for the grand audience during trekking in Langtang Valley.

A few hours’ drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi, Langtang Trek starts following the ragging Langtang river across the dense forest of Langtang National Park which eventually takes us to Langtang village (3,430m) and Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m). It is one of the most popular trekking regions for those wishing a short trek in the Himalayas of Nepal.
The Tibetan lifestyle greatly influences Langtang Valley, locals are descendants of Tibetan origin. Varieties of Rhododendron, majestic waterfalls, bamboo forests, snow-capped mountains and hair-rising landscapes make you walk a diverse experience. Program day to day detail itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu:
You will be picked up at the airport by one of the Volunteer World Nepal staff and driven to your Kathmandu host family or a hotel. Here you will be welcomed into the family, be given your own room and be provided with all your meals while in Kathmandu. This will be your home during your orientation and volunteering in Nepal. With easy bus routes into town and the surrounding countryside, this quiet and safe suburb is the perfect base for your time in Nepal.
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation:
We start a guided tour four of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the medieval Kings who ruled over the Kathmandu Kingdom. Pashupatinath houses a sacred lingum or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. The Aryaghat alongside Pashupati and on the banks of the Bagmati River is a famous funeral site for the Hindus. The Buddhist shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist destinations in Kathmandu. The area of Boudhnath is also famous for over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries. We would like you to experience the real life of Nepal so we would like to show you how schools are run and students are taught. This school is totally funded by our company.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu – Syabrubeshi:
We start our trip at about 7 am in the morning and head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubensi, the first part of the drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is quite smooth, and then the path moves along the gravel road and overnight at Lodge. Tamang Heritage Trail is not so far from Kathmandu, the road is hilly and winding (though spectacular), climbing high and providing us with superb panoramic views of the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region.
Day 04: Syabrubeshi – Lama Hotel Trek:
We cross several suspension bridges following the Langtang River. We pass through a dense oak forest of Langtang National Park along the up-down trail and reach Bamboo (1,970m) for lunch. We trek a couple of hours more to make up to Lama Hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 05: Lama Hotel – Langtang Village Trek:
Our morning tea is followed by a steady climb up along a dense forest and through the villages. Today we leave the tree line behind and get to appreciate the invitation of Nepalese Himalayas with open heart. The front of Mt. Langtang Lirung (7,227m) seems marvellous. Pass by Ghodatabela (3,030m), Chyamki village (3,230m), chortens, water mills, prayer wheels and Mani walls before getting to beautiful Langtang village. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 06: Langtang Village – Kyanjin Gumba – Kyanjin Ri Trek:
We make a short trek with a slight uphill and downhill. We will pass by many small plateaus, the biggest Mani wall in Nepal and yak postures. Since, it is really a high altitude, take your time to walk slowly and acclimatize your body. Kyanjin Gompa is another wonderful land of Langtang surrounded by the Himalayas. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 07: Kyanjin Gumba – Lama Hotel Trek:
Today also we repeat the downhill trek all the way to Lama Hotel. We begin our trek after breakfast and retrace our steps to Lama Hotel. Most of the trekking today will be downhill as we pass through forests and beautiful Tamang villages. We also get to enjoy different views of the Himalayas that we had missed climbing up. Overnight in Lama Hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 08: Lama Hotel – Syabrubeshi Trek:
Today also we repeat the downhill trek all the way to Syabrubeshi. We descend down along the dense forest hearing anonymous sounds of the Langtang Khola. Since the whole journey is mostly downhill, we can easily make the way. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 09: Drive back from Syabrubeshi – Kathmandu:
We start our drive to Kathmandu and it takes about 9 hours, it is a pleasant drive back to Kathmandu with marvelous views of hills, mountains, terraces and villages check in to the hotel and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Farewell Friend and Departure/Fly back to Home:
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Volunteer World Nepal representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
