Sponsor a Child in Nepal is a program that connects children in need with compassionate sponsors like you. Becoming a sponsor means investing in a child’s life and empowering them to grow up healthy, educated and safe. When you join our sponsorship family, you can be sure you are joining a growing, global community dedicated to doing whatever it takes for children, transforming their lives and the future we share.
Sponsorship is an incredibly powerful way to help one poor child become healthy, well-educated, and empowered. Together, we make a permanent difference in the life of a child, one at a time. Sponsoring a child connects you with an individual who desperately needs your help, and lets you provide support by way of private school tuition, medical care, books, uniforms, quality meals, and for many children, a quality place to live and extracurricular activities such as music, dance, karate, yoga, and sports.
We are different from other organizations in that you will get to know your child. You can meet your child, and you can help support their growth and development. 100% of your sponsorship goes directly to benefit the child you support.
Your sponsorship will directly enable children to take advantage of alternative opportunities and break the cycle of oppression. Sponsoring a child from Nepal is a rewarding and heart-full experience. The sponsorship gives each child the chance to get the maximum level of school education that is available in Nepal. This gives them a better grounding in English and the main subjects required for college and further education. It is a real chance to make their future brighter.
Education is the main priority to create long-term options for the future of the children. Child sponsorship allows you to experience the difference you can make by helping one person. To have a life opportunity they would not otherwise have. It also gives the child the chance to have a friend who cares about their future and well-being. Imagine how it can feel to have someone thinking about you and your welfare; even if they are far away.
It costs 500 USD per year to sponsor a child in a private school. Your generous regular support will go towards helping empower the lives of children and families in your sponsorship community through our innovative programs. Your sponsorship is truly an investment in children’s lives and futures!
Sponsorship covers the cost of school fees, school uniforms, books, pens, school excursions, incidental costs, and lunches. It will also cover one full medical check-up per year and one set of casual clothes. For the ‘babies’ and preschool children, the sponsorship covers pre-school (baby school) and extras such as nappies and additional medical support as required.

Child Sponsorship is critically necessary in Nepal. A significant portion, two-thirds to be precise, of Nepal’s children face severe deprivation, with 40% living in absolute poverty. This grim reality stems from a prolonged civil war and ongoing political instability in the region. The repercussions are profound, with children being denied their fundamental right to education due to a combination of factors such as poverty, underdevelopment, widespread illiteracy, and overarching socioeconomic challenges.
Socioeconomic problems exacerbate the situation, manifesting in issues like child labour, the trafficking of girls, bonded labour, and discrimination against female children. The dire circumstances faced by many families result from insufficient resources, both in physical and social terms. Consequently, their children become more susceptible to the dual challenges of illiteracy and poverty.
"As UK-based final-year medical students, we worked with Volunteer World Nepal to plan this summer's medical elective in Nepali hospital. Umesh was incredibly helpful in setting up our placement in Nepal from the very beginning. Himal taught us some simple words in Nepali when we first arrived, so we could communicate with each other during our tour. He also gave us a tour of some..."
