Kathmandu and Chitwan Tour

The sample program itinerary provided is subject to change or extension based on the availability of the volunteers and their preferred duration for volunteering, internship, tour, or trekking.

Program day to day detail itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu:

You will be picked up at the airport by one of the Kathmandu Summit Adventure staff and driven to your Kathmandu host family or a hotel. Here you will be welcomed into the family, be given your own room and be provided with all your meals while in Kathmandu. This will be your home during your orientation and volunteering in Nepal. With easy bus routes into town and the surrounding countryside, this quiet and safe suburb is the perfect base for your time in Nepal. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu:

We tour Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa, which are all world heritage sites. The Durbar Square sheds light on the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple, and Baudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, we are introduced to our fellow participants and discuss our trip at the Kathmandu Summit Adventure office. Overnight in Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 03: Sightseeing in Patan and Bhaktapur:

Listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Patan Durbar Square is rich in ancient arts and architecture. We also visit Bhaktapur, an irresistible city with an authentic local lifestyle preserved over centuries of isolation from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. While in the city square, we get to admire the Nyata-Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, water spouts and the 55 Window Palace which merge together to provide the ambience of a magical outdoor theatre to its visitors. We also immerse ourselves in the authentic delicacy of the locals in Bhaktapur. Overnight stay in Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 04: Drive to Chitwan from Kathmandu – Tharu Village walk, Evening Tharu Cultural show:

We descend down along the winding road on the banks of the Trishuli River. After checking in to the hotel, there will be a briefing on the activities we will be engaged in during our stay in Chitwan. We then walk on the banks of the Rapti River to enjoy the sunset in the sub-tropical jungles of Chitwan. In the evening, we enjoy dinner along with a brief cultural program showcasing the tribal dances unique to the Chitwan region of Nepal. Overnight stay in Chitwan. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 05: A full-day Jungle Excursion in Chitwan National Park:

Early in the morning, we will be mounted on elephants for a jungle safari through dense grasslands to witness wildlife in its natural habitat. After breakfast, we visit the elephant stables and even enjoy bathing the elephants. During the afternoon we can drive through the jungles followed by a canoe ride down the Rapti River. While canoeing, we may get a close look at the Gharial and Mugger crocodiles along with freshwater dolphins, otters and varieties of water birds. Or, we may even go for bird watching or nature walks and come closer to a variety of wild flora and fauna found in the park. Overnight stay in Chitwan. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 06: Drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu:

Early in the morning, we spend our time bird-watching as Chitwan National Park is also home to a large variety of resident and migratory birds. We then have breakfast and drive towards Kathmandu. We reached there by evening and enjoyed our farewell dinner to celebrate the successful end of our trip to Nepal.

Day 07: Farewell friend and departure/Fly back home:

Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Kathmandu Summit Adventure representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
