Teaching Volunteer in the Monastery
The teaching volunteer in the monastery is a unique program of Volunteer World Nepal. The influx of interested people from all around the world to support Nepal by volunteering has been sporadic due to the Covid 19 but it has never been nil. Volunteer World Nepal has had something to do even during Covid time.
But the present Covid scenario has been very encouraging as the infection rate has drastically dropped down in Nepal. In fact, the number of people infected has always been less than the number of people who defeated the deadly virus whereas the death rate has been negligible. The people of Nepal have been learning cope up and get along with Coronavirus and they have been successful to a great extent.
Doing something for the poor people of developing countries is the best and the most pious way to employ the free time you can afford and have internal satisfaction too.
Miss Laura Faber all the way from Canada is the one to think so. She signed up to volunteer for three weeks and arrived in Nepal on the 5th of November 2021. She was taken straight away to a Nepali family. As this was a festival time in Nepal she had the opportunity to observe and get involved in the celebration personally. She participated in the Bhai Tika celebration as well.
She now undergoes basic communications or survival Nepali language classes together with visiting places of interest in and around Kathmandu. Then she will be placed in a Buddhist monastery in Solukhumbhu located northeast of Kathmandu. She is going to teach young monks of the monastery the English language and Mathematics. The young monks are very excited to learn English from the native speakers.
