Teaching in Monastery Volunteer
If you are looking to undertake a teaching in monastery volunteering project in Nepal, look no further than Volunteer World Nepal. I came to this organisation with a series of questions, still undecided over which programme to undertake. Upon reaching out, my mind was quickly put at rest by Umesh, who recommended to me a project which fit my exact needs.
Upon arrival in the country, I was taken into Umesh’s house in Kathmandu. There, I was shown wonderful hospitality and received an informative full-day tour of Kathmandu as well as multiple Nepali language lessons.
The project I opted for was a four-week English teaching placement at the monastery in Pokhara, and it proved to be an experience I shall cherish for the rest of my life. Although it was hard work at times, the feeling of making a difference to the English level of these young monks was incredibly rewarding, and moments like this made the experience completely worth it.
The monastery itself was in a beautiful location, nestled in a rustic hillside only a few stones through from the centre of Pokhara, and overlooking the beautiful Fewa Lake. I feel blessed to have been able to spend time in such a location
Overall, I feel indebted to Umesh and those at Volunteer World Nepal, whose expertise gave me the experience of a lifetime.
